I Was Concerned About My Memory (Or Lack Of)

So I made an appointment with my Family Doctor…

Back in 2010, I became very concerned about my memory. I called the local Alzheimer’s Association and began receiving pamphlets and other information.

I had not gone to a doctor, but I knew things weren’t right.

  1. I forgot the names of people that I knew.
  2. I couldn’t think of the word I needed in a sentence and had to substitute it.
  3. I would think of something I needed to do, and before I could start the project, I would forget what it was!
  4. I was repeating things over and over, especially to my children and probably to others, too.
  5. I forgot important dates and events that I hadn’t written down.

Unfortunately, about the time I decided I needed to address my concerns, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. I put my issues on a back shelf and left them there, for several years.

When I was his Caregiver, I didn’t have time to worry or focus on myself. I was busy making appointments, keeping a journal, and caring for him during his last few years.

My husband passed away, and I began my “new normal” way of life.
