What Are The Growing Concerns Surrounding AI?
Will Our Society Eventually Be Taken Over By Intelligent Robots?
Can Robots become Intelligent? That’s the frightening question. Will Humanoid Robots eventually take over the planet?
For over 70 years, Artificial Intelligence has been “in the works.”
In 1950, Alan Turing, an English Mathematician, was proposing tests to determine whether a computer could “think.”
In 1952, a computer program was developed to play checkers.
AI research began at a workshop at Dartmouth College in the summer of 1956, just after my first year of high school. While we were learning to use electric typewriters there were brilliant minds already thinking about creating machines that could think like a human! The term “Artificial Intelligence” was coined at that time but has only begun to be used in the past couple of years.
For many years, we’ve been concerned about aliens from other planets. If computers can “think,” maybe our concern isn’t too far-fetched. Was there life on other planets that were ahead of us in the use of Artificial Intelligence?
It wasn’t called Artificial Intelligence, but it began to be used when humans stopped answering phones and messages were allowed to go to voicemail. Receptionists were no longer being hired…
