Why I began writing on Medium

Of course, it was to make extra money to supplement what Uncle Sam pays me!

My problem is that, like many others, I didn’t research before I began writing. I began to write and publish and thought the $$ would begin to roll in.

I joined Medium in September 2022 and my first Stripe payment came on November 8, 2022, and it was a whopping 26 cents!

I didn’t have a niche, and I still don’t. I write about whatever comes to mind.

I read all the articles on “How to make money on Medium,” “How to make money online,” how-to, how-to, how-to. I read the Writer’s Tips, the Keyword suggestions, the SEO suggestions, and anything that’s written — I try to read.

I’ve used all the suggestions offered …. The best day of the week to publish, the best Medium Publication to publish in, the best tools to use, the best, best, best!

I’ve been writing on Medium for one and one-half years. So far, in total, I have accumulated less than $15.00 on my spreadsheet (and in my bank account.)

I DO know the problem. I’m not writing what anyone wants to read! I’ve got that. I don’t have a niche. I’ve got that.

Am I quitting? Not a chance!

For me — life is a story, and I’m telling mine — paid or not!!
